The Halloween storm bringing rain/snow over the past two days is starting its trek out of the region this morning.

An active pattern will bring cool temps and rounds of rain and snow showers Friday - early Sunday, with good potential for 5-8"+ new snow across the backcountry. Drier and slightly warmer conditions return late Sunday into next week. Unsettled weather with additional rain/snow chances could return by midweek.

Crisp mornings and cool, sunny days are in store this weekend as high pressure and dry conditions build back into the Sierra, likely lasting well into next week. Late next week into the beginning of November, models suggest the arrival of a colder and wetter pattern with the potential for the Sierra's first significant snows of the season.
